Springtime springing up (we hope! we hope!) in NYC has us channeling our inner flower child – so we thought it was only appropriate to dedicate this #FoodCrushFriday to one very special edible bloom: hibiscus.
As beautiful as it is beneficial, hibiscus has myriad antibacterial, antifungal, and antioxidant properties; supports a healthy heart by helping to keep blood pressure and cholesterol in check; settles the stomach; and helps eliminate wastes and toxins from the body.
So you all probably know hibiscus as a tea – but did you know you can sneak hibiscus powder into many a recipe to amp up the nutritional profile with a pink so pretty it could moonlight as an 80’s movie? :)

Pretty in Pink Cashew Milk
In your Vitamix or other blender combine:
1 cup raw cashews, soaked and rinsed
4 cups H2O
4-5 Medjool dates
1 teaspoon raw coconut oil
½ vanilla bean or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon hibiscus powder
