My Liquid Love Cacao is an invitation to connect with a beautiful teacher plant. The cacao plant, theobroma cacao, is a tree that produces pods with seeds inside. Those seeds are what we call “cacao beans” and are used to make ceremonial grade cacao, cacao powder, cacao butter and chocolate. It’s a very wise tree.

Cacao activates your super powers and awakens the heart, and it is also a known aphrodisiac! On a physical level it increases blood flow, literally moving more blood and energy through your heart. On an energetic level, cacao amplifies the vibrations of the heart chakra inducing a love state of consciousness. Cacao also improves cognitive function, and in my experience cacao does wonders to connect the heart and mind. Cacao is a powerful tool and ally in living a heart lead life.

When I make the Cacao, I practice what I call “the alchemy of food” - I attune to the energy of the plant, and I honor and give reverence to Cacao. I also silently chant “love” every step of the way, which increases the vibration of the Cacao.

I became a Reiki Master before I was a chef, so the subtle energetics have always been an essential ingredient in my culinary work. Therefore, each time I make this the recipe it varies slightly, because I work from my intuition, feeling the energy rather than following exact numbers. That said, here is my baseline recipe:

Liquid Love

  • 2 oz Ceremonial Grade Cacao
  • 5 oz Homemade Coconut Milk (See below)
  • 2 oz Hemp Milk
  • Maple Syrup to taste
  • Pinch of Vanilla Powder
  • Pinch of Sea Salt
  • Homemade Coconut Milk
  • 6 cups warm filtered or spring water
  • 8 oz of organic shredded coconut

Heat water, don’t let it boil. Add coconut and water to Vitamix. Blend on high for a minute. Strain in a nut milk bag. Keep in a glass jar in refrigerator.

Heat all of the liquids. Add the cacao before the liquid boils, keep it just warm enough to melt cacao, without bringing it to a boil. Add maple syrup, vanilla powder and salt. Serve warm.

I often add other superfoods like maca or botanicals such as rose. Different botanicals create unique vibrational qualities in the experience, and I’ll choose these according to the focus of the gathering. Spices such as cayenne will add a kick and enhance the effect of the Cacao.

Serve and enjoy with love!
